Here is the fall as a list of weekends. Pick one thing per Saturday and you will have a full season. Every entry links to the organizer.
Weekend of October 10 and 11
- Saturday, October 10, 11 a.m.: the 2nd Annual Larry Itliong Festival at Montevalle Park in Chula Vista (city listing).
- Saturday and Sunday: National Wildlife Refuge Week at the Living Coast Discovery Center on the Chula Vista bayfront, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (calendar).
Weekend of October 17 and 18
- Saturday, October 17, 2 to 3:30 p.m.: a Concerts in the Park show at the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center, if you want to head north (city list).
The week and weekend of October 21 to 25
- Wednesday, October 21, 5 to 6:30 p.m.: Pumpkin Painting and Carving Jamboree at the Robert Egger Sr. South Bay Recreation Center, 1885 Coronado Ave.
- Thursday, October 22, 5 to 7 p.m.: Halloween Carnival at the same center.
- Friday, October 23, 2 to 5 p.m.: Fall Carnival at Cesar Solis Community Park, 4901 Del Sol Blvd.
- Saturday, October 24, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Community Yard Sale at the South Bay Recreation Center.
The city’s list notes that some events may need registration or a fee, so check the Parks and Recreation event calendar first.
Halloween weekend, October 31 and November 1
- Free Día de los Muertos in Old Town San Diego, Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (details).
- Sunday, November 1, 2 p.m.: a free Navy Band Southwest concert at Chula Vista Bayfront Park to open Fleet Week (report).
Early November
- Monday, November 2, 3 p.m.: Día de los Muertos at Memorial Park Bowl in downtown Chula Vista (listing).
- Wednesday, November 11, 10 to 11:30 a.m.: the San Diego Veterans Day Parade on Harbor Drive (details).
December
- Friday and Saturday, December 4 and 5: Balboa Park December Nights, free (city page).
- Saturday, December 5: the Starlight Parade on Third Avenue in Chula Vista (parade site).
- Sundays, December 13 and 20, 5:30 p.m.: the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights (route).
- Fridays to Sundays from November 29 to December 20: the free snowfall and light show at Village Walk at EastLake (schedule).
Ocean View Hills sits in the southern part of the city with the freeways close by, which makes everything on this list easy to reach.
